Design
The Turbo Silence Desk Fan is made in China, manufactured by Airmate, a company who are well renowned for producing quality, reliable fans. This desk fan has been highly engineered to be stylish and sturdy in equal measure. Its elegantly molded base has an attractive bronze finish that is well matched by the black power head and cool blue fan blades that sit behind the grille.
The fan is 22 inches in height with a base that has a diameter of 11.5 inches, so it has a relatively small footprint to fit on most desks. An integrated handle is smartly position behind the blades above the motor housing, making it easy to carry.
A 5 ft 11″ two-pronged power cord is included, which is a standard length for a desk fan, so should be suitable for most purposes without the need of an extension lead.
Powerful Air Flow
Rowenta proclaims this is the most powerful and quiet 12 inch desk fan available. Using a uniquely designed five bladed propeller with a 40 cm blade diameter, this fan can move a serious amount of air with it’s airflow of 1,695 cubic feet per minute (CFM).
Controls
There are 3-speed settings as standard, plus a Turbo Boost setting for keeping cool in hot, humid environments. The controls are a bit over engineered, as when you switch to Turbo mode it activates a bright blue light on the base. This maybe irritating to some who want to use the fan at night in the bedroom.
Being an oscillating fan, it can automatically move 90 degrees up, down, left and right, to direct air flow across a wider area of the room. The fan head can also be moved manually up/down or side-to-side, for adjustment when in a stationary position.
Turbo Silence
One of the most prized features of the VU2531 is its near-silent operation. On its lowest speed setting, it produces a noise level of just 38 dB which is barely audible, while its highest Turbo Boost setting produces 55 dB.
Manufacture testing revealed that on the lower settings, its noise output is similar to that of an average library. In short, this makes it ideal for use in environments where low noise, but high airflow is needed, such as in an office or bedroom.
